This is the Original Design Award winning D.H. Russell Canadian Belt Knife in production since 1957. Grohmann and D.H. Russell teamed up to design a truly Canadian outdoor knife and through trial and testing with hunters and trappers came up with this first design in the line. #3 BOAT KNIFE, CANADIAN ARMED FORCES OR YACHTSMAN DESIGN
Depending on the configuration, this knife is either the Boat Knife, the CAF knife or The Yachtsman.
Blade approx. 4" x 15/16", of 1/8" stock, total length 8 1/4" Rosewood handle shown here, but handle also available in Xtra water-resistant, water buffalo bone or horn, staghorn and micarta. Choice of high-carbon stainless or carbon steel, and either straight edge or partially serrated (great for rope).
There are three main styles with the #3 knife:
1. - Yachtsman style: Sheath with pouch that holds a Marlin spike/shackler for yachting.
Great general purpose knife with a tapered handle to help prevent slipping ( 3M sheath ) Along with boaters and fishermen, this knife is commonly used by the Canadian Coast Guard and can usually be seen on the historic Bluenose.
2. -Boat Knife style: Great all purpose knife with regular open sheath for boating, canoeing, sailing, camping, hunting and fishing.( 3 sheath ) The triangular shaped handle makes for a better grip when wet.
3. - Canadian Army Knife (CAF) or commonly referred to as the "Jump Knife" style: Comes with straight blade and Overlap sheath used by the Canadian Armed Forces since 1964.-( 3A sheath ) They take it with the rosewood handle, and sometimes with a partially serrated blade, but other handle materials are available as well.
There is also available a pouch style sheath that holds a sharpening steel for quick touch-ups in the field (not shown).
All Blades available with Straight or Partially serrated edge, stainless or carbon steel. Handle materials include all available: classic rosewood, resinwood, natural water buffalo horn, water buffalo jigged bone, micarta and staghorn. Brass rivets (brass recommended esp for salt water use).

Modeled after the #1 original design. A favorite among big game hunters the world over as well as for those looking for a generous size outdoor knife. Sturdy design for those with larger hands. Lock down sheath design, belt loop positioned high enough for comfort while sitting or riding.

The illustrated Old Timer Knife is the Desert Iron Wood Golden Bear Old Timer Knife that features a locking clip blade made of stainless steel. The Desert Iron Wood handle of this Old Timer knife, 5" closed, has brass liners, Old Timer shield, a single bolster and a lockback. A genuine leather sheath is included. This Golden Bear Old Timer Knife is imported.
All Desert Iron Wood wood handles will vary in color and striation, which is part of the uniqueness of natural handle materials.
